Fenerbah\u00e7e\nBeko which succeed to make last 5 Final Fours, couldn\u2019t start Turkish Airlines\nEuroleague season 2019 \u2013 2020 as well as expected. Fenerbah\u00e7e Beko is now 2-6 and 3 wins behind of the playoffs bound.\nWhy Fenerbah\u00e7e Beko has started to the season such bad?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It wouldn\u2019t\nbe wrong to say that the problems started to appear last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Let me indicate\nthe source of the problem initially; I think that the main problem is not technical;\nit is not about preferences of the transfered players, eighter. In my opinion, the\nmain issue is physical troubles and the psychological\nburn out that are result\nof physical troubles<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fenerbah\u00e7e\nhad an amazing season last year and finished the regular season as the leader\nof Euroleague. They played 18 games against the best 10 teams in Euroleague\nlast year and won 15 of them. Moreover they played 9 away games against these\nteams and won 6 of them. By the end of this amazing season, injuries started to\noccur and followed each other. These deficiencies burn out the team seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Beginning of\nthe season, Tyler Ennis injured. Althought\nhe was replaced with Eric Green, Joffrey Lauvergne\u2019s injury became the\nbeginning of the all problems. Afterwards, Jan Vesely, Nikola Kalinic and Luigi\nDatome also got injured; Bobby Dixon followed them in Final Four.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before Final\nFour games, they couldn\u2019t practice enough as a full complement and it was known\nthat the injured players were not ready. Not only the injured players but also\nthe rest of the team were knocked down a lot phisically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lauvergne\nand Datome were out, Vesely and Kalinic were not ready to play in Final Four. On\nthe first day of Final Four, Fenerbah\u00e7e faced Anadolu Efes. Anadolu Efes played\nvery well and won the game by 19 points with an amazing effort. Bobby Dixon got\ninjured in the game and couldn\u2019t play aganist Real Madrid in the 3rd place\ngame. Fenerbahce lost aganist Real Madrid down 19 points again and finished\nFinal Four without a win after having a great season with full of breaking\nrecords and completing the regular season as the leader. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
There is a big competition between Fenerbah\u00e7e and Anadolu Efes and also an ongoing tension between head coach Ergin Ataman and Fenerbah\u00e7e fans for many years. This ongoing tension made a peak in Euroleague final game and continued increasingly until Turkish League final series. By the series extended, mutual statements increased the tension. The series extended to game 7. The importance of the game and the pressure on the team went up too much. After Fenerbah\u00e7e lost the game, this loss burn the team out so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before new\nEuroleague season starts, Fenebah\u00e7e and Anadolu Efes played for President Cup\nagain. If Fenerbah\u00e7e won this cup, they\u2019d cheer up before the season. But they\nlost again and the pressure on the team increased again. Nothing were helping\nFenerbah\u00e7e to get rid of this physcological situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
New\nEuroleague season started and Fenerbah\u00e7e lost aganist Real Madrid in the first\ngame, despite they were fighting well and having a very close game . Fenerbahce\nmissed the chance of starting the season with a win and cheering up. Players\nwho had injuries couldn\u2019t catch their old \nperformances. Afterwards, when they lost aganist Crvena Zvezda in\nBelgrad in the 2nd round, the pressure on the team increased again and this\ndefeat knocked the team down mentally more than before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not only the injured players but also the rest of the team started to have problems because of having more minutes\u00a0 and role in the team; this situation phsically wore them out. While they were very good at the team defense and helping each other by having their backs last year, their team defense weakened this year because of the injured players\u2019s insufficient performances. Shortfalls at individual performances became unsolvable level, then\u00a0the players became the target of the criticisims. These things demoralized the team and decreased the self confidence of the players. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The players\nwho already knocked down physically, they had to play a lot of away games\nbecause of the bad Euroleague fixture. They played 4 of the first 5 games on\nthe road; Madrid, Milano and Maccabi who are in the first 8 at the standings\nwere 3 of them. Fenerbahce\u2019s most scorer player Nando De Colo couldn\u2019t join the\nteam for the game in Moscow because of his injury and Fenerbah\u00e7e lost aganist last\nchamp CSKA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Thus,\nFenerbah\u00e7e played first 5 games of 8 on the road and 4 of these teams stand in\nthe playoffs seed now. Fenerba\u00e7e absolutely should have won Zalgris game at\nhome but altough they leaded the game by 7 till the last minute, Fenerbahce\nmade back to back big mistakes and had the first home loss of the season.\nPyshcological collapse made a peak here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When we look\nat the fixture and standings, the problems are not as big as reflected and\nFenerbah\u00e7e can overcome of this situation. There will be 34 games played in\ntotal and the teams which have 18-19 wins are going to make playoffs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the rest\nof the season, Fenerbah\u00e7e won\u2019t play a lot of difficult away games like this period\nof the year. They\u2019ll play 17 games at home in total and they just played 3 of\nthem. If they can\u2019t become the one of first 4 teams that will make playoffs\nwith home court advantage, even if they make playoffs as the 8th place,\nFenerbahce will still have equal change on the all possible match-up. When Fenerbah\u00e7e became the Euroleague\nChampion, they matched with Panathinaikos and the home court advantage was at\nPanathinaikos. And Fenerbah\u00e7e completed those series with 3-0.

\nThe players will be stronger pyschically by time and when they catch some\nwinnig series, it\u2019ll also effect the team in a very positive way. They\u2019ll also\nbe mentally stronger.

\nI\u2019ve mentioned about the last year\u2019s away games wins above and Panathinaikos\nseries to point out that even if Fenerbah\u00e7e can\u2019t have the home advantage in\nplayoffs, they will have the chance at least as much as the possible opponent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fenerbah\u00e7e is still one the strong candidates for Final Four. However, once a team which achieves to attend F4, will have chance to get the title as much as the others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
